"I LOVE HORSES, NATURE AND ENJOY COMBINING BOTH ELEMENTS IN MY PAINTINGS" Initially Gisela was limited to the rigid confines of drafting, but soon found herself drawn toward the freedom of expression in painting. She joined a prestigous department store as a decorator, where she produced posters and branched out into the realms of lithography with a well known printing company in Flensburgm North Germany. Juggling the two professions, she completed her studies in the graphic arts and was rewarded with a Fine Arts scholarship to the Niedersaechsische Akadamie, part of the University of Braunschweig (Brunswig), Germany. It was at this point that she met and married Dr. Howald Pferdekamper, an international developer and entrepreneur. Together they moved (along with 33 Hannoverian horses) to Palm Beach County, Florida. Not to rest on her laurels, Gisala found the time to attend to her young sons Till and Marc. With her boys at school and her horses attended to, she spent many hours each day in her studio totally immersed in the vitality she found in the lush Florida landscape. Influenced by her horses and her tropical surroundings, her style became less surrealist. Her paintings are now friendly, optimistic, colorful and whimsical. All include her typical, voluminous horses sitting in a tropical, flowery setting.

Ceramics came into Gisela's life and led to the acquisition of a large kiln and to the building of yet another studio where Gisela developed a new media in which to express her originality and talent. Gisela's art has been shown in many exhibitions. Within the last months e.g. at juried exhibitions in Lake Worth, FL (1st prize), Lighthouse Center for Arts, Jupiter, "Art of Palm Beach", City Hall, Artis Heaven Gallery in Ft. Lauderdale. Also in the Max Schacknow Museum, Plantation, the AA Lounge at La Guardia International Airport, Art Miami in Miami, Art Expo, New York, NY and the Red Dot Art Fair in Miami for the second time. Gisela is invited in 2012 for the second time by Palm Beach County to exhibit at the Palm Beach International Airport and her agent has contracted very fine social clubs to show Gisela's art. For years, in February, Gisela has hosted an exhibit with invited artists in her own studio to rais funds for the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation. This show is always well attended. Recently Gisela participated in an exhibition at 110 Atlantic Court arranged by Grace Greenberg in Delray. Live in Delray (Delray Art) looks to keep a finger on the pulse of what’s happening in fine art at 110 East Atlantic Avenue and neighboring locations with fabulous local artists. View unique art that has been on display at 110 from extraordinary artists. |
